A beautiful love story that trumps everything – Leslie & Thomas

“Thomas and I met during the summer of 2014. We were taken by each other right away. It was quite a whirlwind romance. But due to circumstances and issues in our own lives we fell apart a few times but always found our way back to each other. Although I have been sick most of my life, due to congenital defects, as well as an early breakdown of my body, it was around the time that I met Thomas that I really started to decline. It was manageable for a while and then became much worse over time. During the 3 years before our marriage I had seen many specialists and Thomas was there for me through many very scary procedures as well as major surgery. In 2016 we finally started getting answers as to what was wrong with me. It was a terrifying thing for both of us, in our ways and really tried the strength of our relationship. Thomas decided that he didn’t want to lose me and wanted to spend as much time as I had left building a life together. On March 8th, 2017 in front of a movie theater where we were about to see the final stand alone movie of our favorite comic book character, Thomas asked me to record him and I had no idea why. It was then that he spoke to not only me, but our friends and family as he asked for my hand in marriage. We planned on marrying in October of 2018 but because my heart condition was becoming much worse very quickly, along with rapid degeneration of my body, we decided to wed on September 16th, 2017. We got married on the balcony of an amazing little, local cafe called Fresh Vibes Cafe. The owner was so amazing and helped us with everything we needed. It was a beautiful, perfect day. We had the reception in the cafe itself and it was the perfect set up for our small gathering. Everything was amazing and my heart swelled with joy as I not only married the love of my life, but with all the love, help and support that we received from so many sources. It was a very amazing experience.”
